Clayton Homes Appalachia is committed to helping more people achieve the dream of homeownership with homes they can feel proud to own. But as material and labor costs continue to rise, the team must constantly find ways to offer upgraded finishes while protecting affordability and production speed.
One of the most requested upgrades from buyers was a walk-in shower with a tile surround. Traditional ceramic tile delivered the look customers wanted, but it created challenges in production. Tile showers required skilled labor, took longer to install, and limited the number Clayton Homes Appalachia could complete each week. Ceramic tile was also more vulnerable to damage during transportation, which could lead to service callbacks after the home was delivered.
To solve this challenge, Clayton Homes Appalachia partnered with Six3Tile.
Six3Tile Shower Surround Pro Kits provide the finished appearance of tile in a large-format panel system, reducing installation complexity while maintaining an upscale look. Instead of installing individual tiles one by one, production teams can install Six3Tile panels in a fraction of the time. According to Sales Manager Allen Patterson, the switch helped increase shower production capacity more than tenfold, moving from one or two ceramic tile showers per week toward a goal of 20.
The partnership also worked because Six3Tile adapted to Clayton Homes Appalachia’s process, creating panels that fit their shower dimensions and training production teams for a smooth rollout.
For Clayton Homes Appalachia, the result has been faster installs, fewer service concerns, and a desirable upgrade customers love — helping deliver affordable luxury at production speed.
